Why the World English Bible?

Scriptune sets Scripture to music using the World English Bible (WEB), a modern, public domain translation. Popular translations like the NIV, ESV, and NLT are copyrighted, and setting them to music and distributing that audio requires paid publisher licensing that we do not currently hold. The WEB lets us share every verse and every song freely, in full, without restriction. We hope to add licensed translations as Scriptune grows.

Scripture text is used verbatim. We never add, remove, reorder, or paraphrase a word, in a song or anywhere else in the app. Scriptune is independent and non-denominational, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any church, denomination, or Bible publisher.
